How lovely to be cool enough at night that you can lay under a duvet again.  Woke up this morning to a perfect breeze blowing in at the window and the clearest blue skies outside.  I love the colour of the trees against the sky - intense green and blue - I could look at it for hours.  The other thing I love in the early morning is the soft calling of the bee-eaters as they fly up from the valley towards Slavaykovo and over my house towards the top of the village.  I don't know if they go down that way to roost for the night or if they just follow the path of insects, but it's a daily routine and they are such beautiful birds.

This morning I discovered the little white cat had been very cheeky and quietly snuck into my room whilst I slept.  She was curled up in a tight little ball under the bed, with just one half open eye peeping at me over her tail as if to say 'Just ten more minutes, please?'  I am such a soft touch!  Might be an idea to invest in a little flea powder and worming tablets though if she's going to have regular sleep overs.

I met another local today, a woman called Sika (I think).  Actually we met a few years ago when I had put mum's old shoes outside to give away.  On my sign I had spelt shoes Обуфки instead of Обувки and it caught her eye.  She's a teacher at the local school and lives in the house on the corner not far from the end of my street.

Tags: car buying a car Fiesta

Very excited!  Went to look at a car today accompanied by Tony who knows everything about cars and Rado who was on hand to help with the language.  It's a 2005 Ford Fiesta and seems to check out well.  Rado is going to get back in touch with the salesman about a couple of points (the lever to tip the front passenger seat forward and a possible slow puncture in one tyre) and if they get sorted we can start the purchasing process.  It will be odd having my own car instead of just a hire car, and something tells me I will be going MUCH more carefully on the rougher roads from now on.

And that's in the shade!  Cooling methods:

1.  Stuff ice pack up your shirt.

2.  Soak a large towel in cold water and lay underneath it.

3.  Eat tons of ice-cream.
